Art trip to a village with a 100-year history of pottery making

20 students from the Art class of Thăng Long School took a day trip to Bình Dương province, where they enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and learnt more about a well-established pottery tradition.

The students were divided into small groups and carefully observed and drew the stages of water pot making, from wedging, shaping, glazing, to sun drying and firing. The older children, who were more proficient in drawing, were challenged with more sophisticated perspectives, including sketching skilled craftspeople tirelessly working to produce high-quality products.

After lunch, the trip continued with a more hands-on experience at another location. The students were excited to try hand-moulding clay under the guidance of clay specialists. They shaped lovely cups and bowls, which they adorned with colourful designs and brought home as keepsakes.

Minh Lâm shared, “This trip helped me gain a better understanding of the art of pottery, explore how to make it, and improve my patience and creativity. We had a truly meaningful experience today.”
